What is Generic Xyzal?

Xyzal is a modern medication from the group of antihistamines of third generation. Xyzal is used for the treatment of acute and chronic forms of allergic reactions.

This drug has the following properties:

  • Anti-inflammatory;
  • Eliminating the itch;
  • Preventing the action of histamine, which is produced by the body in response to stimuli from the outside, and cause allergies.

It can be used in the treatment of bronchial asthma which is an infectious-allergic type. This drug can be prescribed in a treatment regimen with an increased risk of sensitization. These include antibiotics, serums and vaccines. Its active ingredient is Levocetirizine and researches have shown that it can reduce in children attacks of asthma by 70%.

Xyzal is available in form of coated tablets. One coated tablet contains five milligrams of Levocetirizine dihydrochloride (which is an active derivative of hydroxyzine) and excipients.

Xyzal is prescribed in cases of allergies of various etiologies: from food, insect bites, dust, animal hair, pollen, and other.

How should I take Xyzal?

Xyzal is taken internally by mouth, one tablet once a day. Tablets should be swallowed without chewing and washed down with plenty of water. Admission of these tablets does not depend on time and food. Also if you need a smaller dose then you can divide the tablet.

Dosage information

The daily dose should not exceed two tablets or ten milligram.

The course of treatment lasts as long as is prescribed by a doctor. That will depend on your disease and characteristics of the patient. Duration of treatment can last from seven days to six months.

Patients with renal insufficiency may require adjustment of dosage.

What may interact with Xyzal?

  • Epigastric pain, nausea, dry mouth, vomiting, changes in hepatic biochemical analysis - is the part of the digestive tract;
  • Tachycardia and nosebleeds - the cardiovascular system.
