About cystits

in Articles .

Cystitis is a problem familiar to many people. Fortunately, if you do not delay the treatment of cystitis and do it correctly, then an unpleasant episode of illness will remain an episode that you can soon forget about. But chronic inflammation, that causes severe pains and frequent urination can ruin one’s life.

Women encounter this pathology much more often than men, due to anatomical features of the urethra structure. In women it is short and wider. According to statistics, every 4th woman at least once in her life was ill with cystitis, and every 8th suffers from the chronic form of the illness. Men are much luckier: bladder inflammation occurs only in 0.5% of males.

The reason for such an unpleasant illness, in the majority of cases is infection. The infectious agent gets into the mucous membrane of the bladder either from the outside or with the flow of blood from the centers of chronic infection of any localization (with caries, tonsillitis, sinusitis, cartilage, and so on). Nature has taken care to give the mucous membrane a significant resistance to microorganisms, so even in the case of infection inflammatory process in the organism does not always begin. There are many factors that can provoke the development of cystitis:

  • Overcooling of the body and local hypothermia in the pelvic region (this is why women shouldn’t sit for a long time on the cold surfaces)
  • Rare urination (prolonged congestion of the urine in the bladder is accompanied by the development of pathogenic microflora in it)
  • Non-compliance with the rules of personal hygiene (a rare change of feminine pads and tampons during menstruation and other)
  • Frequent wearing of tight underwear and strings
  • Sedentary lifestyle
  • Specifics of sex life (vaginal sex right after anal)
  • Postponed inflammatory diseases of the reproductive system, especially not cured
  • Chronic infection of any localization
  • Long constipation
  • Weak immunity after severe illness, as a result of overwork, chronic stress, during pregnancy and in the postpartum period
  • Diagnostic and therapeutic manipulations on the bladder
  • Hormonal reorganization of the organism during puberty or during menopause

Less common causes of cystitis of non-infectious nature:

  • Damage to the mucous membrane by a foreign body (for example, a urinary stone)
  • The burns of the mucous organ
  • Irritation of the mucus with chemicals released from the urine

Often, it only takes a few hours for the illness to develop after a person overcooled. Suddenly, the person (in the majority of cases, as mentioned above, it is a woman) experiences the following cystitis symptoms:

  • Frequent urination in small portions
  • False urges to go to the toilet
  • Burning pain, pain in the urethra during an act of urination
  • Aching pains in the lower abdomen (over the pubis), the intensity of which gradually increases
  • Possible episodes of incontinence of urine
  • Sometimes fever
  • The urine changes color gets darker and turbid, sometimes it has a reddish color (this indicates of the presence of blood)

Such a situation can persist for one and a half weeks, after this the state of health of a sick person improves. If after the end of this period of time the symptoms persist, there is a chronic process.

If you ask a physician or an experienced patient "how to cure cystitis?" then you will probably hear the following answer: "antibiotics." And this, indeed, is true. Antibacterial medicines for the treatment of cystitis are the main component of therapy. The results of recent studies have shown that at present, the best medicines for this purpose are ciprofloxacin and fluoroquinolones. The microorganisms causing cystitis are the most sensitive to these medical substances. Luckily for us, these antibiotics are inexpensive and easy to buy. They are presented in a wide assortment in many European pharmacies, in particular in Denmark online pharmacies. But they are also available in many traditional drugstores.

How to relieve cystitis without synthetic drugs? Of course with herbs! Although herbal remedies are milder, they are also very effective at the timely start of treatment. The optimal option will be ready-made complexes consisting of dozens of different herbs, which are not only taken internally, but also good for healing baths. Especially useful they are for future mothers, because in this period of life women try to avoid the use of chemical compounds.

Do not forget that like any acute illness, acute cystitis requires bed rest. A sick person needs to follow a delicate special cystitis diet with the exception of alcohol and irritating food.

Prophylaxis of this illness consists in the elimination of all factors contributing to its development, namely: it is necessary to get rid of centers of chronic infection, adhere to rules of personal hygiene and regular, healthy sex life.

What kind of doctor can help in this case?

If a person experiences signs of cystitis, he or she can contact a therapist or an urologist. In chronic, relapsing cystitis must necessarily be performed cystoscopy, a woman should consult a gynecologist. It makes sense to visit a physiotherapist.
