What is Generic Rhinocort?

It is an active glucocorticoid that is used for treatment of allergic and inflammatory diseases of the respiratory tract. It belongs to long-acting drugs with the ability to single dosing. Consumption of glucocorticoids allows reducing the dose or completely abandoning the purpose of systemic corticosteroids.

The therapeutic effect of Rhinocort starts in about 6 hours after taking, a significant improvement in respiratory function observed in a few days. 34% of the applied dose is deposited in the lungs.

It reduces bronchial hyperreactivity, inhibits the early phase of allergic reactions (after prolonged use) and late phase response. Budesonide also reduces bronchial obturation caused by physical effort, cold air and sulfur dioxide.

About 90% of Budesonide is transformed in the liver to metabolites with very low bioactivity. The drug binds with plasma proteins by 86 - 90%, mainly with albumin. It is excreted with the urine (70%) and bile.

In what kind of disease treatment Rhinocort is helpful?

  • Vasomotor rhinitis;
  • Seasonal and allergic rhinitis;
  • Prevention of the growth of nasal polyps after polypectomy (surgical removal of polyps).

This drug is used for the treatment of sarcoidosis, in cases of increased resistance to beta-mimetics and in cases of threat of pulmonary edema caused by the toxic effects of chlorine, phosgene and other toxic substances.
