What is Сhampiх?

Сhampiх is a pharmacological drug developed to treat nicotine addiction for adults.

It is designed to ease the process of quitting smoking. Do not use the drug for other purposes, and give it to others to use.

What should I tell my health care provider before I take Сhampiх?

Before taking this medication a patient have to inform the doctor about the following factors:

- Age (as the safety and efficacy of taking Champix by persons under 18 was not clinically confirmed).

- Kidney failure or kidney diseases (the dose may need to be reduced)

- Pregnancy planning or pregnancy, breastfeeding (there is no information about taking these pills by pregnant women, it is unknown whether generic Champix may be dangerous for a baby or not. It is not recommended to use Champix during lactation because it allocates with breast milk).

- Allergy to varenyklin or other components of Champix.
- All medications that the patient takes.

How should I take Сhampiх?

Champix comes in the form of pills of different colors. White (0.5 mg) and blue (1 mg). The patient should set a date to quit smoking. A week before that date, the patient should start receiving Champix. During this week a patient may continue to smoke.

Dosage information

The daily dose of Champix for the first 3 days is 0.5 mg once a day. The next 3 days the patient can take 0.5 mg twice daily. After a week of taking the medication the dosage should increase to 1 mg per day. A full course of treatment lasts 12 weeks. It is advised to take medication for another 12 weeks after successful completion of the course, for securing the effect.

What may interact with Сhampiх?

Based on clinical studies of Champix, was found that the drug does not interact with other medical products. The interaction with nicotine replacement therapy, however, showed that simultaneous reception of Champix and nicotine patches during 12 days leads to significant reduction in systolic blood pressure by 2.6 mm Hg. Also during the combined therapy often occur nausea, fatigue, headache, vomiting and dyslexia.

What should I watch for while taking Сhampiх?

While the reception of Champix behavior of some patients can change, or occurs depression, suicidal thoughts and even suicidal action. If these symptoms occur, patients should immediately stop taking the drug and seek medical advice. Cases of drug overdose are not registered.
